Marie Knechtová was born on 25 March 1946. Her life is connected with the Brno suburb of Líšní and also with music. She attended the choir of František Lýsek in Brno and worked in the Brno Philharmonic. She married in September 1968, her marriage was marred by the Soviet occupation in August. Together with her husband Milan Knecht, she founded and led a folklore ensemble for children and adults for twenty years, which was still active in 2019.
