Marie Kukačková, née Konecká, was born on 20 April 1932 in Nová Ves near Třebíč. Her mother Anežka, née Bulantová (born 1899), worked in a paper mill in the neighboring village of Přibyslavice. Her father, František (born 1898), ran a food trading company operating mostly in the Znojmo region and the surrounding areas. Before the start of the Second World War, Marie entered the first class of the primary school in Okříšky. A distant relative of the witness was Jan Kubiš, a paratrooper, one of the assassins of the acting Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich. After the assassination in May 1942, many of her relatives ended up in prison, including her cousin Miroslav Mitiska (born 1924). After the war, her family moved to a farm in Prosiměřice in the Znojmo region, which they lost in the 1950s during the collectivisation of agriculture. In the 1950s, the witness completed her education at the agricultural school in Miroslav and started working in an agricultural cooperative (JZD), she also became a member of the Communist Party. She worked as a zootechnician until her retirement in the 1990s. At the time of the interview (2021), Marie Kukačková lived in a nursing home in Prosiměřice
