Under the highest mountain of Hrubý Jeseník named Praděd
Rudolf Glatter was born on January 8, 1934 in the village of Malá Morávka (Klein Mohrau in German). He has a family tree at home, which proves that his ancestors lived in this region at least since the 16th century. Like the vast majority of local residents, his parents were also of German nationality. Shortly after the border occupation, his father was imprisoned by the Nazis for several days as a treasurer in the German Social Democratic Workers’ Party. A few months later, the father had to enlist in the Wehrmacht. As a car repairer, he went through both the Western and Eastern fronts. After his unit was disbanded at the end of the war, he returned home on foot. As a toolmaker in the chain factories, the father was not included in the deportation of the Germans in 1946, so the Glatter family remained in Malá Morávka. Today, Rudolf Glatter is one of the last two Germans still living in Malá Morávka.
