I shall die in what I was born
Emil Konfala was born on December 9, 1929 in Dolná Lehota in Orava region (today’s part of Oravský Podzámok). He came from a poor Christian family and was the youngest of six children. He attended the elementary school in his native village and afterwards he worked in Industria wood factory. In 1950, as a politically unreliable person he had to enlist in the correctional Auxiliary Technical Battalions (PTP). After the return into civilian life, he began working in a carpenter’s workshop in Dolný Kubín and later her got a job as a maintenance worker in Kovohuta Instebné. In 1954 he got married with Oľga, née Matláková. He has been retired since 1989 and lives in Dolná Lehota.
