The burning of the settlement of Ležáky
24. 6. 1942
The raze of the settlement of Ležáky in the Chrudim District to the ground on 24 June 1942 was, as in the case of the village of Lidice, a punishment for the assassination of Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich. All 33 adult inhabitants of the settlement of Ležáky were executed, only two girls survived and were sent to Germany for Germanisation by the Nazis.
